Unilever Powerhouse Conference and Launc

USP Creative has successfully branded Powerhouse, a new global customer service initiative by Unilever. USP has been involved in the Powerhouse since the very start with the creative coming up with the branding and then producing a recruitment campaign which involved the creation of short, snappy animation. The events team at USP Creative were also heavily involved in the organisation of the Powerhouse launch event which was held at Unilever's original building Lever House in Port Sunlight. A total of 60 global leaders flew in from all around the world for the two day conference and workshop. USP were tasked with dressing an empty, unused and fairly boring office that housed the event, and our graphics included a floor- to ceiling Unilever bag, a fake supermarket filled with Unilever products and bold motivational signage. The team also sourced all the furniture for the event and brought in all the AV, including a plasma wall and a film crew that were on hand to film all presentations and capture vox pop footage. USP's creative and digital teams were also brought in to produce a six minute animation that captured everyone’s imagination at the event. It was shown at the start of each day and will continue to be used by the customer service team to inform employees about Powerhouse.

Kevin McCloud for Curtins Consulting

USP client, Curtins Consulting has begun work on their 42 home new sustainable building development ‘The Triangle’ with renowned designer Kevin McCloud of Channel 4’s ‘Grand Designs’. The project begun in an unusual manner with a presentation taking place for the ‘turning of the sod’ with Kevin demonstrating the properties of Tradical Hemcrete, a hemp and lime wall thermal walling system that absorbs CO2 in its manufacture and so has negative embodied CO2 that will be used throughout the development instead of traditional brick. USP Creative work with the structural engineering firm, Curtins on all aspects of their branding and as consultants on their PR strategies.

Bury Boys Grammar School

USP have won a three way pitch for the Bury Boys Grammar School brochure and branding that will be used for the next four years. The prestigious boy's school which was founded in 1634, boasting a notable alumni including Sir Robert Peel is currently home to 800 boys from the Greater Manchester Area. USP have created a unique branding concept for the school promoting their key messages of caring, challenging and creativity in all internal and external communication from the 2010/11 academic year onwards.

On this Day 1997 Hong Kong handed over

Hong Kong was handed back to the Chinese authorities - ending more than 150 years of British control. The British flag was lowered over Government House - home to the last Governor Chris Patten for the past five years - at midnight last night.
